Excavation Volunteers

Learn how to get involved with our excavations and become part of our international team of volunteers. To volunteer at Vindolanda you don't need any experience in archaeology but you do need to be enthusiastic, reasonably fit, over 18 or 16 and over accompanied by an adult and of course you'll need to have booked yourself a spot via our website! Museum Volunteers

The Vindolanda Trust has a small and dedicated team of volunteers who assist the Curator with her duties in the two site museums of Vindolanda and the Roman Army Museum. Read more

Post-Excavation

Each year the excavation are supported by a dedicated post-excavation volunteer team who process the material from the dig. There are up to four places available for each two week period throughout the year. Read more
