These volunteers help us to run activities especially over the school half terms for the general public to engage with and learn more about the site, the archaeology and the history of the Romans in the north.

Our activities range from finds handling sessions where the public can come and get hands on with real artefacts found at Vindolanda, to dressing up, to green screen events and also seasonal crafts. All based around the Romans or our excavations and themed to particular aspects of those topics.

Being an activity volunteer with the Vindolanda Trust gives you the opportunity to get involved with events we run and get more hands on with the history of both of our sites. It's a great way to learn more about local heritage and get others engaged as well.

We currently have spaces available for activity volunteers, if you are interested in getting involved please fill in the Volunteer application form.
