Trowel Roman Wooden Trowel by Rhys Williams (Teesside University) on Sketchfab The mason’s trowel still has evidence of plaster on it. The mortar is stuck to the left-hand side of the blade, which shows that the user was right-handed. It is the same design as a modern trowel, used for pointing. This small builder’s tool may have been used to plaster the interior walls of buildings at Vindolanda. Digging up memories - making connections Dan (Heritage Mason) is aghast at how any mason’s apprentice could leave his tools in such a dirty condition. Does the punishment fit the crime? Dan tells his story. Further information The tools Report Manage Cookie Preferences
