Vindolanda Wood Cufflinks

Wear a piece of history

Unique handmade cufflinks made from 2,000 year old oak.

Large planks and beams uncovered during the excavation of the deep anaerobic layers at Vindolanda are not conservable and after carefully recording these pieces they would normally be re-used as part of the backfill of the site.

Now local craftsman David Wayper has been able to create a bespoke range of Vindolanda souvenirs which are made using some of this 2,000 year old oak.  All the proceeds from the sale of these items goes directly back to supporting the ongoing excavation programme. The cufflinks are also engraved with the makers signature V mark.

The square cufflinks measure 1.5cm and come in a velvet pouch and a small information card about the origin of the wood.
