Romans Return To Vindolanda

We'll be welcoming back the world renowned Ermine Street Guard reenactment group to Roman Vindolanda on 11th & 12th July 2026.

There will be:

Roman Army School: Learn how to be a Roman soldier! Get dressed as a Roman soldier, learn a few commands, march in time and complete formations. Cameras at the ready - this is a great photo opportunity. 

Displays: Military displays and demonstrations of armour, artillery and technique on the fort site each day.

Roman encampment: See how Roman shoes are made, have a coin minted for you, see some of the tools and kit a Roman soldier would have to carry with him!
