The design of this light weight scarf has been inspired by history with the image of our beautiful Vindolanda duck repeated.
The native British design of this duck can be traced back hundreds of years prior to the Roman occupation of Britain. It is thought that the duck was a symbol of honesty, simplicity and resourcefulness as well as transition due to their migratory nature. The original silver brooch was recovered at Vindolanda from a 3rd century ditch during the 2018 excavation season.
The duck has also been replicated as a brooch in both pewter and bronze and are available in our online shop.
