Vindolanda Trust – COVID-19 Updated 1ST JUNE 2020

In line with Government guidance issued on 23rd May which confirmed that people in England can now visit gardens and land maintained for public use, the Vindolanda Trust is phasing our re-opening with access to Vindolanda site and gardens only for long weekends from 12th June.

For more information about our re-opening please visit our news release.

The Vindolanda Museum and the Roman Army Museum remain closed. As Government guidance develops we hope to be able to gradually and safely re-open more facilities for the enjoyment of our visitors.

Information for Volunteers signed up to join the 2020 excavation season is available at Vindolanda Excavations

The Vindolanda Trust is a totally independent charity that can only continue to excavate, conserve, research and educate with the money we raise from visitors to Vindolanda and the Roman Army Museum. The Trust does not receive annual income from any other source. Those of you who have bought Golden Tickets for unlimited visits to our sites these have all had the expiry date extended to December 2021. With many of our events now re-arranged to 2021 these tickets remain excellent value and are still on sale.

We are making every effort possible during this period of closure to bring more information about our work to you through our website and social media channels. We have also produced a number of home learning activity sheets which you may find helpful if you have young children.

During these extremely challenging times we appreciate your support and thank you for your donations and online purchases, as well as looking forward to welcoming you in person once we are able to re-open.

You can also make a donation to our survival appeal.

Thank you for your continued support.

Please do not attempt to access our sites or car parks during this period of closure. Pre-booking is essential for weekend opening dates in June

Stay safe.
