Themed Guided Tours

Our guided tours are given by our amazing volunteer guides, they all run from the Westgate (main visitors entrance) in the courtyard. The 45 minute tour will take you through some of the highlights of the site remains. Each tours focuses on Vindolanda from a a specific theme looking at Food, the Writing Tablets and the military but all will give and introduction to the site of Vindolanda.

We welcome adults and children on all of our tours.

Vindolanda Excavation Bursaries

The Vindolanda Trust understands how important it is that young people from all backgrounds have access to archaeology and history. To make it easier and more accessible for young people to participate in the Vindolanda Excavations, the Trust and its partners offer several bursaries schemes every year.
Magna Project gets green light

The Vindolanda Charitable Trust has been awarded a £1.625m grant by The National Lottery Heritage Fund towards the £2.5m Roman Magna Project on Hadrian’s Wall.
