Potted History Roman Head Pots

Relatively common throughout Roman Britain, head pots are found in many archaeological contexts from kitchen storage jars to the eternal resting place of cremated remains. In style they range from the elaborate and lifelike, through to the comic. Working on a preformed wheel-made pot you will create your own replica head pot.

The course fee includes the firing and return of your pot (UK only). *Additional fees if your pot requires international postage.

Maxium 10 people per session - book early to avoid disappointment.

Graham Taylor is a potter, experimental archaeologist and ancient pottery technology specialist, based in Rothbury, Northumberland. He has worked with the Vindolanda trust for a few of years and runs workshops, demonstrations and has built a working replica Roman kiln in our gardens. The Workshop runs from 10am until 3:30pm. Afterwards you will have time to visit the Vindolanda Site & Museum.
