You only need to book one arrival slot per group travelling together. When you book your arrival slot it will ask 'How many people you are travelling with?' here you can give us the number in your party. If you have more than 5 people in your group please book multiple slots as required. Can I arrive without booking? We are operating at reduced capacity and have established a system of arrival slots visitors can book to manage visitor numbers. You may arrive at our sites without booking an arrival slot, however you run the risk of being turned away if we have reached our capacity and are fully booked. We recommend booking an arrival slot. They are free and easily changeable. How do I book if I am already a Friend of Vindolanda, have a ticket, or am eligible for a free ticket? If you are already a Friend of Vindolanda, have Golden Tickets or Individual Site Tickets or are eligible for free entry (carers), all you need to do is book your arrival slot for your party. Bring your ticket/card with you to show our staff when you arrive. I've booked the wrong date/time - Can I change it? Yes. To do this cancel your original booking and rebook for the correct time. There is no charge for this as the arrival slots are free. I have booked my tickets but I haven't received a confirmation email. Please check your junk or spam folders as our website sends the email they can sometimes end up there. If you still are unable to find your confirmation you can email [email protected] and ask for a receipt to be emailed. How long can I stay? Once you arrive on site you may stay until we close at 6pm, no matter what time you arrive. The arrival slot is in place to limit numbers and control the flow of people. Do I need to wear a mask? Wearing a mask is required in our museums as of the 8th August per government guidelines regarding inside public areas. You do not need to wear a mask whilst on site. Our staff at the serving points will be behind screens and social distancing will be in place across the sites. What is the difference between the different tickets? We have a range of ticket types available. The chart below illustrates the difference between the memberships and tickets. Tickets Memberships When are you open? We are open 7 days a week. In August and September this is from 10am to 6pm. Time slots are for each hour between 10am and 5pm (which is our last admission time). Can I bring my dog? Only registered assistance dogs are allowed on site at Vindolanda. This is due to the fact that there is active archaeological research going on and to help preserve the standing remains of the fort. We recommend that you leave your pets at home when visiting our sites. Why do you need my contact details? The Government has requested that we record people's contact details in case they are needed to assist with the test-and-trace efforts. This data will be kept securely for 21 days after your visit and then destroyed. What facilities are open?
