I have been drawing Minimus the Roman mouse and his Vindolanda exploits for over twenty years. I'm always inspired by the site and the museum, but the latest find absolutely takes the biscuit! The little leather mouse that emerged from its hiding place in a bag of scrap leather is just wonderful. Here are my responses to it - the Minimus model with his 'shadow', and a comic explaining its origin!

Minimus is a unique Latin course for younger children. It's based on a real family who lived at Vindolanda in 100AD: Flavius, the fort commander, his wife Lepidina, their three children, assorted household slaves, their cat Vibrissa - and Minimus the mouse.
