Roman tents were critical for the Roman army as they campaigned across the empire. Reenactors and genuine artefacts give us a glimpse into the life of the Roman soldier on the move.

Join us on the day for:

  • a reconstruction of a Roman tent,
  • Roman reenactors,
  • a demonstration of Roman camp food and tent-peg making,
  • an opportunity to see original wooden artefacts from the Vindolanda collection which aren’t usually on display and to learn more about how they can help us to understand more about the people who made and used them.
