We have launched an ambitious campaign to raise funds towards a much needed on site excavation and post-excavation facility at Roman Vindolanda. The Robin Birley Archaeology Centre will replace three wooden sheds which are sadly in a state of disrepair with a purpose built centre which can be used all year round. Can you help us?

  • Potted History Samian Ware Workshop

    3rd August
    During this workshop participants will learn about Roman Samian Ware, Terra Sigillata, arguably the World's first truly mass produced pottery. Make your own Samian bowl using the ancient techniques. Read more

  • Potted History Oil Lamps and Deities Workshop

    20th July
    In this half day course, you will learn about the manufacturing methods employed by Roman craftsmen and create your own Roman goddess figurine, a small Lararium or household shrine and a fully functioning Roman oil lamp.  Read more
