All Day Experience

Make a full day of it at Hadrian's Wall!

More Than A Tourist Attraction

Our two sites - Roman Vindolanda and the Roman Army Museum - are situated amongst some of the best preserved sections of Hadrians's Wall. They lie in the beautiful central section of the wall within the Northumberland National Park. We would recommend you allow a day to see both our attractions and if you are really swift you might manage a short walk as well! Whatever the weather, we can keep you and your friends, entertained, fed and watered. With free parking, unique exhibits and live archaeology to watch across the summer months an unforgettable and full day out awaits.

The Vindolanda Trust is an independent charitable trust that raises its income almost entirely from public support. Every visitor to our two sites at Vindolanda and the Roman Army Museum makes a direct contribution to the archaeological and educational work of our charitable trust. It is our pleasure to welcome you to our two sites which are yours to enjoy.

Hadrian's Wall

At Vindolanda Fort and the Roman Army Museum you are already having the ultimate 'Edge of Empire' experience on Hadrian's Wall. This 2000 year old colossal feat of engineering provides the incredible setting for one of the region's most distinctive holiday or day visit experiences. A stunning string of forts, milecastles and turrets stretching 80 Roman miles (73 of our miles!) from East to West, coast to coast. Mix in an incredibly beguiling landscape, bustling market towns and pretty villages and you have all the ingredients to make your own unforgettable occupation of the England's northern frontier.
