Thank you lottery players

From 11 to 17 December 2017, we are opening our doors for free to National Lottery players.


The Vindolanda Trust will be throwing open its doors for free to National Lottery players during the week of 11 to 17 December 2017 at Roman Vindolanda and on 16 and 17 December at the Roman Army Museum. They are two of 350 participating National Lottery funded visitor attractions across the UK in saying ‘thanks’ to people who have raised money for good causes by buying a lottery ticket.


The Vindolanda Trust has received support for both of its attractions and most is currently building a new gallery and activity centre at Vindolanda thanks to a £1.3m grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. This new facility, which will display some of the remarkable wooden artefacts uncovered at the Roman site, will open at Easter 2018.


Ros Kerslake, Chief Executive of the Heritage Lottery Fund, said:


“December is a wonderful time to experience the UK’s rich, diverse and exciting heritage, which has been transformed by more than £7bn National Lottery funding since 1994.  This is a small gesture of thanks and a way of giving something back to the people who buy tickets.”


The idea is simple: any visitor who presents a National Lottery ticket or scratchcard on 11 to 17 December at Vindolanda and 16 and 17 December at the Roman Army Museum will receive free entry for two adults and up to three children.
