Prince Edward visits The Roman Army Museum on Hadrian’s Wall

His Royal Highness, The Earl of Wessex will visit the Roman Army Museum at Greenhead, Northumberland as part of his Royal visit on Thursday 21st July. His Royal Highness is due to visit various sites within Tynedale and will arrive at The Roman Army Museum, and  will tour the  new museum and view its 3D film.

Patricia Birley, Director of The Vindolanda Trust, comments ‘ The Vindolanda Trust is really pleased to be welcoming His Royal Highness Prince Edward to the Roman Army Museum on the 21st of July, we are keen to show him our fantastic new exhibitions and 3D film and we hope that His Royal Highness thoroughly enjoys his visit.’

The Roman Army Museum has experienced a significant rise in visitor numbers since its re-opening in April this year. With a newly designed museum including state – of –the –art audio visual equipment as well as tactile displays and a 20 minute 3D docu-drama the museum is now the must-see attraction along Hadrian’s Wall – proving a hit with both visitors and locals alike.

The Roman Army Museum is run by The Vindolanda Trust, a charitable organisation that was established in the 1970’s. The Trust received Heritage Lottery funding as well as a grant from One North East to redesign and redevelop both of the Trust’s museums in 2010/11 allowing them to develop a cutting edge museums that can rival any in the country.
