Angela and Michael would like to welcome you to Strand Cottage in the heart of the Hadrian's Wall corridor. Situated 2 miles from Roman Vindolanda and 3 miles from Housteads this is the ideal place to base your visit. We have 3 well appointed rooms. Each room has colour television, clock radio, and hospitality tray and we are centrally heated. Drying facilities and a laundry are available. One double ensuite room and one twin with private facilities are available in the house. These adjoining rooms which have a door on the landing separating them from the rest of the house, can be let as a family suite to sleep 4 people, or 5 with a folding bed. We also have a detached ensuite family room which sleeps up to 5 people in a double bed and 2 single beds and 1 folding bed. This room can be let as a double room and dogs are allowed in this room only, although they may not be left unattended at any time.

Prices start from £27.50 per person sharing a room with a discount given on request when staying longer than 3 nights. Single occupation of either room from £32 to £38, and the family rooms starts at £60 for two people with children's prices according to age. Special rates for people taking part in a 'dig' at Vindolanda.

The 685 bus which runs between Carlisle and Newcastle can be caught outside the door, and the train station is just 15 minutes walk away.

The cottage is 2 miles from Hadrian's Wall and 4 miles from Roman Vindolanda.

Bankside is a small centrally heated stone cottage, overlooking a wild woodland garden. There is a sitting room with a solid fuel stove, bedroom with double or twin beds, bathroom (with bath and shower) and a simple kitchen.

The price is from £185 per week. Changeover Saturday. Short winter breaks from £90. Food by arrangement. Also available - during excavation season only, part of Hightown Old Farm, which sleeps 2 and comprises of a bedroom, kitchen/living room, toilet and shower.

Bush Nook is a traditional stone farmhouse and like most of the buildings in the area was built with stone 'borrowed' from the Roman Wall. Dating back to 1760 Bush Nook is set in open countryside with stunning views in all directions. It overlooks Birdoswald Roman Fort on Hadrian's Wall World Heritage Site. Chapel House is a detached Northumbrian cottage in the hamlet of Whitley Chapel, an area of outstand natural beauty, 5 miles south of Hexham market town, Hadrian's Wall Country. It is set in its own grounds of 4 acres with extensive views of the Slaley Forest and North Pennine hills. The cottage has three bedrooms and sleeps up to five people. There is a bathroom with bath, overbath shower, w.c. and handbasin. The two larger bedrooms each have handbasins. Downstairs there is an open plan lounge diner/kitchen area with a wood burning stove. The cottage features and oil-fired aga and is centrally heated throughout. There is a separate, fully equipped utility room and downstairs w.c. All linen, towels and fuel, including logs, electricity etc are provided. The cottage has a lovely private garden with garden furniture and plenty of bbq areas. A wonderfully peaceful location.

Chapel House is a drive of approximately 20 - 25 minutes from Vindolanda and an excellent location for touring Hadrian's Wall World Heritage Site, North Pennines and the coast and castles of Northumberland.

It is possible to book Chapel House for any number of nights (minimum booking period is 2 nights) and the cost is £100 per night. Arrangements for breakfast food can be pre-booked prior to your arrival if required.

Start the day with a Hearty Breakfast with a variety of choices in our Lounge/Diner, with information leaflets, books, maps and games or relax in the garden and watch the wild life, or study the stars on a clear night.

Our cosy Ground floor rooms are tastefully coordinated and are all en-suite (showers), Free view TV is provided as are Hospitality trays, Towels, Hairdryers and clock. Evening Meals and Packed Lunches are available by prior arrangement using Local Produce where possible and some Fair Trade goods. We have dry room facilities and Dog Kennels (free of charge), we do not allow animals inside our home.

Rates; From £30.00 - £40.00 per person per night, based on two people sharing a room.
A single person occupying a room would be charged an additional single occupancy fee of £10.00.
