Since the opening of our new display at the Roman Army Museum in February 2016, which looks at ethnicity, women and children at the fort, we have been collecting your votes on three archaeological questions.

 

The results are below…

A man’s skull was found during our excavations. From the evidence provided in the display, who was he?

  1. Roman - 37%
  2. Barbarian - 17%
  3. British - 27%
  4. Italian - 19%

 

From the evidence on display, did women live in Roman forts?

  1. Yes - 62%
  2. No - 38%

 

How do you think the child found under a barrack floor died from reading the evidence provided?

  1. Murder - 69%
  2. Natural causes - 16%
  3. Accident - 15%

Winter Opening 2016-2017

Vindolanda Trust - Sunday, October 16, 2016

 

After a wonderful summer at Vindolanda and the Roman Army Museum, our trustees have decided on the below opening hours for winter 2016-2017.

 

Vindolanda will remain open daily up to and including January 1st 2017, except Christmas Day.

The Roman Army Museum will be open every weekend and available for group bookings of 20 or more. Please contact the office for further details.
